Faculty of Economics and Management Science

After more than two decades of civil war in Somalia, the Faculty of Economics is directing to rebuild its re-existence through knowledge and experience. In addition, the mission of the faculty is to work within the framework and directives from the Federal Republic of Somalia. Its program is 4 years’ degree in both BS and BA with majors in Economics and Management. During the first two years, Students take common basic courses, while the faculty students will be divided in two directions (Economics and Management).

Faculty of Economics and Management Science is seeking qualified candidates for the following Positions:

Job title: Public Finance Lecturer

Reporting to: Dean of Faculty of Economics and management Science

Location: Gahayr Campus

Requirements and Responsibilities

Active Participation in Faculty Activities

Proficient with public finance knowledge

General knowledge of taxation law and practices

Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality

Effective Oral and written communication skills

Flexible, Stable and Committed

Knowledge and skills:

Knowledge and understanding of public finance and terminology

Be able to complete some routine and non-routine tasks in the faculty

Able to work on own initiative or with others on tasks

A broad and integrated knowledge and understanding of the scope and main areas of public finance;

Essential skills:

At least 3 years’ experience in teaching Aspects

Strong motivational and empowerment skills

Strong communication skills

Strong relationship management skills.

Essential attributes:

Possesses managerial courage

Job Description – Instructor of English

Job title: English lecturer)

Reporting to: Dean of Faculty of Economics and management Science

Location: Gahayr Campus

Closing date: Friday 2oth Oct

Job Purpose The main responsibility of the instructor is to help the students understand English, speak it and be able to write and read it. the duties will range from the preparation of course work, planning of classes and the marking of work handed in. On top of this you will also have to arrange any extracurricular activities and set targets for your students.

Duties and Responsibilities

The instructor of English, working with other members of the faculty of Economics and management Science teaching team, will be responsible for the delivery of the following key priorities:

  • Advising student on career issues.
  • Organizing and delivering classroom lectures to students.
  • Evaluating a students’ class work and assignments.
  • Preparing classroom and coursework materials, homework assignments, and handouts.
  • Recording and maintain accurate student attendance records and grades.
  • Classroom management.
  • Developing English lesson plans in line with the faculty Curriculum.
  • Maintaining discipline in the classroom

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • To provide outstanding teaching to create a distinctive culture for learning for young people.
  • To plan and execute a diverse program that meets individual learner needs within English.
  • Being an outstanding practitioner and to by undertaking a teaching commitment depending on the needs of the faculty
  • Attending faculty meetings and committees as required.
  • Contributing to the faculty’s Enrichment programs.
  • Teaching students according to their educational needs, including the appropriate setting and marking of work to be carried out by the students.
  • Maintaining discipline in accordance with the faculty procedures, and to encourage good practice with regard to punctuality, behavior, standards of work and independent learning

Knowledge and skills:

Knowledge and understanding of English and literature

An understanding and demonstration of barriers to learning and how those may be overcome Experience of managing student performance and intervention strategies to raise performance Previous teaching within 3 years of teaching.

Be able to complete some routine and non-routine tasks in the faculty

Able to work on own initiative or with others on tasks

A broad and integrated knowledge and understanding of the scope and main areas of English and literature.

Person specification

Essential skills:
