Somali National University employs two distinct grading systems tailored to its academic programs: the Laurea grading system and the Bachelor grading system. These systems are
designed to ensure fair evaluation of student performance while aligning with international academic standards.
The Laurea grading system operates on a scale of 30 points per subject, with the highest grade being 30/30 and the minimum passing grade set at 18/30. For graduation, a cumulative grade
point average (CGPA) of 66/110 is required.
On the other hand, the Bachelor grading system uses a CGPA scale where grades are calculated out of 4.0, with a minimum CGPA of 2.0 required for good standing and graduation.
Both systems include letter grades (A–F) with corresponding grade points and descriptions to provide a comprehensive evaluation of student performance, ranging from “Excellent” to “Fail.”
This dual system allows the university to accommodate diverse academic structures while maintaining consistency and transparency in academic assessments.
