From April 23-31, 2024, the UNDP, in partnership with SNU, concluded an impactful eight-day “Training of Trainers” (ToT) program. This initiative equipped eight lecturers (1 female, 7 male) from BRA and Federal Member States with essential skills in gender, conflict, and security, advancing the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) agenda. Using a participatory approach with adult learning techniques, the facilitator employed diverse methods like group discussions, practical exercises, and evaluations to ensure engaging and hands-on learning. Key achievements include the successful training of lecturers on WPS principles, curriculum development, and mentorship. These educators are now empowered to deliver the WPS program, mentor peers, and foster peace and inclusivity in their communities.
The eight-day “Training of Trainers” (ToT) program showed significant knowledge gains among participants. Pre- and post-test evaluations revealed the greatest improvement in mentorship skills, increasing from 43 to 83 points, followed by teaching methodologies (25 to 68) and the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) agenda (17 to 42).
Key outcomes include:
- Conducted 8 sessions, enhancing lecturers’ WPS, teaching, and mentorship skills.
- Increased lecturers’ readiness to deliver the WPS certificate program.
- Reinforced learning with group discussions and practical exercises.
- Developed lesson plans and evaluation methods.
- Collected positive feedback, improved documentation, and maintained alignment with UNDP and stakeholders.
