Dr. Ali Awil Ahmed is a specialist in educational planning and management with over fifteen years of progressive experience in developing education strategies, formulating policy, and implementing programmes. He completed his PhD in Educational Planning and Management at Asia e University, Malaysia, in partnership with Mogadishu University (2025), with doctoral research proposing a framework for the development of educational administration in the Southwest State of Somalia. He holds a Master’s degree in Educational Planning and Management (2017) and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences (2011), both from Mogadishu University.

His academic career at Mogadishu University has progressed through the roles of Faculty Secretary, Assistant University Registrar, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Education, and Director of the Deanship of Student Affairs, alongside part-time senior lecturing at Mogadishu and Hormuud Universities. He has contributed to the review and development of university curricula and was recognised for Excellence in Teaching at the Faculty of Education and Humanities in 2021.

Beyond the university, he has served as Education Advisor to the Office of the Speaker of the House of the People, providing policy analysis and technical support on education legislation. He co-founded Hudur Primary and Secondary School and has worked with humanitarian organisations including Concern Worldwide and Save the Children.

As Deputy Rector for Research and Innovation, he leads the university’s research strategy, scholarly output, and innovation partnerships.
