Biography

Prof. Dr. Abdullahi Sheikh Rashid Ibrahim brings more than three decades of experience in education, learning, and institutional leadership. He holds a PhD in Educational Management (2009) and a Master’s degree in the same field (2004) from Omdurman Islamic University in Khartoum, Sudan, and a Bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Education at Mogadishu University (2001).

His career began in the classroom as a teacher and later school principal, and has since spanned curriculum, governance, and university administration. He has served as Director of the Curriculum Department at the Ministry of Education, Director of Schools Governance, and a member of the National Curriculum Framework Committee — roles that placed him at the centre of rebuilding Somalia’s education system. He has also lectured at Banadir University and SIMAD University, and directed education programmes at the African Muslims Agency.

He has served Somali National University since 2013, most recently as Deputy Rector for Administration and Finance, where he was responsible for institutional development, financial management, and strategic planning. His professional strengths include strategic leadership, academic oversight, accreditation, resource development, and crisis management.

As Deputy Rector for Student Affairs and Public Relations, he leads the university’s student services, campus life, and engagement with the wider community.
